Description: A shrub of the fern family, with creeping rhizomes 5 to 10 mm thick, elliptical leaves and 20 to 25 cm long, grayish-black rhizome with a sweet taste

Plant: Glycosides (polypodin, samambabin) that cause bile secretion, resin, some saponin, starch, malic acid, mannitol, glycysine, sugar

Rhizome: Starch, mucilage, mannitol, butyric acid, lauric acid, acid Hexavier, methyl salicylate, sugar, essential oil

Properties and usage:

Oral: Brewed one teaspoon a day: Anti-bilious, anti-intestinal worms, anti-cough and bronchitis (with licorice and anise), anti-colic, phlegm removal, prevention of milk coagulation in the breast, removal of soda, anti-swelling of the kidneys and gout, relief of heartburn (with bergamot and floss), effective in hemorrhoids. (with jujube)

Potato: anti-swelling and sprains of the legs, anti-rheumatism
